The junior varsity Chargers traveled to Mount Pleasant Thursday to do battle with the host Oilers and used a little offense and a whole lot of defense to come away with a 13-0 win and remain unbeaten on the season. Read→
The Midland junior varsity football team hosted Flint Southwestern Academy Thursday at Midland Community Stadium and picked up a 55-0 win in convincing fashion. Alex Rapanos passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another and Saxdon Miller rushed for two more to lead the Chemics. Midland improved to 8-0 on the season. An action-packed, back-and-forth game saw both teams battle through the downpour to take a scoreless tie into the half, but Dow found their water shoes first when a Bruno Stortini shot found the back of the net, mere minutes into the second half, to propel the Chargers to a 2-0 win over the Chemics in the district semi-final. Dow High made a stop inches from the goal line on a go-ahead 2-point conversion attempt with 20.6 seconds to go in the fourth quarter Thursday as the junior varsity Chargers improved to 7-0 with a 7-6 win over the visiting Raiders at Midland Community Stadium. Read→
Midland Dow failed to recover an onside kick with just over a minute to go Thursday, ending the freshman Chargers\’ hope for a comeback bid as visiting Flushing prevailed 34-27 at Midland Community Stadium. Read→
In a gym that normally is drowned in Chargers\’ green and gold, pink dominated Tuesday as scores of fans showed up to support the second annual Dow High Volley for a Cure. Local businesses helped host the event, and loyal fans and students helped raise over $5,000 to combat breast cancer. The humanitarian campaign was a great success, as was the Chargers match against visiting Saginaw Heritage as Dow came away with a 25-12, 25-22, 17-25, 25-23 win over the visiting Hawks, while the junior varsity and freshman teams experienced success, as well.
