Area Fastbreak teams impress at state tourney

Five Midland Fastbreak girl’s basketball teams qualified at regionals to compete in the Amateur Athletic Union finals for Michigan in the Detroit area, with all five teams finishing fourth or better in their respective divisions.

After dismantling the Lansing Spartans, the 14 and Under team, coached by Todd Hamlet, knocked out Detroit Crossover with two consecutive wins to capture the championship.

The 11 and under team took second place, while the 18 and under took third. The 10 and under team finished fourth in its division.

The 15 and under team, coached by Ron Peterson finished third in its division and will join Hamlet’s squad when they travel to the AAU National Finals in July.
