Where are the photos?

Those of you who visit MidlandSports.com frequently – as well as those visiting for the first time – may notice that the articles we posted today did not include our typical photo slideshows and galleries. Instead, what you found were bold messages at the end of the story promising that your beloved photos would be posted Friday afternoon. If you’re wondering what gives, here’s the explanation.
Our photos are a huge part of our coverage and unquestionably one of the main things that makes us unique. However, we can easily snap as many as 1,000 photos at any one game which means there is a great deal of time spent afterwards sorting, cropping, and editing. Now imagine having to do that for six different basketball games in one night and you find yourself at the root of our dilemma.
In the end it’s much easier, quicker, and cost-effective to process all the photos at one time rather than doing each game as they come in. While we certainly wish we didn’t have to change the way we do things, being as efficient as possible is the goal for any business, especially a young and growing one like MidlandSports.com.
Of course this does not mean the photos won’t be available. We will post at the end of the articles when we expect the photo slideshows and reprints for that game to be posted (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are good early bets). All we ask is for your patience and understanding as we hope this does not affect the way you view our coverage.
Instead, we encourage you to keep coming back to the site to check for updates and think that the anticipation makes the payoff in the end even better. We think you’ll like what you see.
In the meantime, please feel free to direct any questions to me, Jason Wolverton, at editor@midlandonline.com.
Thanks for listening.
