The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced its playoff pairings for the 2007 season with Midland High hosting Arthur Hill in the opening round on Friday at 7 p.m. at Midland Community Stadium.

The Lumberjacks (7-2) have been somewhat of a surprise this season, sharing the Saginaw Valley League crown with the Chemics, Mount Pleasant, and Bay City Central just a season after finishing 2-7.

On paper, the matchup proves to be quite even. This season, the Lumberjacks defeated both the teams that beat Midland (Mt. Pleasant and Flint S.W.A.) while the Chemics beat both the teams that defeated Arthur Hill (Saginaw Heritage and Bay City Central). When the two teams met last year, Midland was victorious 40-6.

Tickets for the game go on sale Friday morning and are $5.

The winner of Friday’s game will face the winner of the game between Saginaw Heritage and Bay City Central.
