Carlos Santana drove home Josh Bell with the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning Sunday as the Loons topped the Beloit Snappers by a final of 6-4.

The win snapped a four game losing streak for the Loons, who are now 43-55 on the season and 9-19 in the second half.

David Pfeiffer (4-2) came out of the bullpen to throw four innings of one-hit, shutout relief to record the win.

Scott Van Slyke had four hits in the ballgame, and was a scorer’s decision away from a fifth hit on a ball charged as an error to third baseman Garrett Olson. Santana drove in two runs for the Loons, including the game winner.

The Loons took an early 2-0 lead with two runs in the first on RBI singles by James Peterson and Santana. Both runs were unearned after an Olson error, one of four charged to the Snappers in the game.

Beloit tied the game with two runs in the fourth off starter Paul Coleman, then took the lead with two more in the fifth on run-scoring hits by Danny Berg and Matt Betsill.

But the Loons pulled to within one with Tommy Giles’ sacrifice fly in the seventh before tying the game in the eighth thanks to a safety squeeze bunt by Francisco Lizarraga.
