Great Lakes allowed more than 15 runs for the second time in three games against Dayton as the Loons fell to the Dragons 20-3 Thursday night.

The Dragons’ offensive display was highlighted by an eleven-run sixth inning – the second 11-run inning the Loons have surrendered in the series. The Dragons finished the game with 15 hits, led by Denis Phipps who homered and drove in six runs. Logan Parker also added three hits for Dayton.

Arismendy Castillo (2-6) started for the Loons and allowed four runs (one earned) in five innings of work, picking up his sixth loss of the season. The Loons bullpen came in to allow 16 runs in their final three innings of work.

Only half of Dayton’s runs were charged to the pitching staff, as the Loons committed five errors that led to 10 unearned runs.

Carlos Santana’s second home run of the season was the lone bright spot for the Loons.

Great Lakes has allowed 38 runs in the last three games. The 20 runs surrendered Thursday were the most the team has allowed in a game in franchise history, breaking the previous total of 18 which the Loons allowed Tuesday night in the opening game of this series.
