Loons comeback falls short against Bees

A late rally by Great Lakes came up short Thursday night as the Loons fell to the Burlington Bees by a final score of 3-2.

Loons’ starter Clayton Kershaw (4-2) pitched four innings and surrendered two runs – one earned – on three hits and three walks while striking out seven. Michigan native Doug Brooks gave up a run on one hit while walking two and striking out one in three innings.

Josh Bell and Preston Mattingly each had two hits for the Loons.

Harold Mozingo pitched 5 2/3 shutout innings and Joseph Dickerson stole home for the Bees in the contest.

Mozingo (3-5) scattered four hits and walked two while fanning five. The 22-year-old right hander won for the first time in his last six starts and lowered his ERA to 4.18.

Tyler Chambliss notched his second save despite allowing two runs on three hits and three walks in two innings. He struck out four, including Adolfo Gonzalez with the tying run on second in the ninth inning

The Bees improve to 19-25 while the Loons drop to 19-26.
