Loons fall to Bees
May 24, 2007 at 3:22 pmThe Great Lakes Loons dropped the third game of a four-game series to the Burlington Wednesday night, falling to the Bees by a score of 4-2.
Cody White (3-5), bidding for his fourth consecutive win, surrendered three runs (two earned) in five innings to pick up the loss.
The Loons (19-25) struck first in the top of the first with an RBI single scoring Trayvon Robinson.
But the Bees struck for two in the second on a single up the middle by Jeremy Jirschele and an error by Robinson. Burlington added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings and took a 4-1 lead into the ninth inning.
The Loons put two runners on and scored on a ground out by Robinson in the ninth, but failed to tie the score or take the lead. Robinson was ejected from the game after protesting the call too loudly from the Loons’ dugout.
Josh Bell extended his hitting streak to nine games with a single in the sixth. Leadoff hitter Derrick Robinson had three hits for the Bees.
The Dodgers’ top pitching prospect Clayton Kershaw takes the mound Thursday night in the series finale. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
