Share this storyThe Dow High varsity baseball team got back on track Wednesday, sweeping the visiting Traverse City Central Trojans by scores of 6-4 and 10-0.
In the opener, Tori Nelson threw five strong innings to earn his fourth win of the season. Nelson allowed five hits, one run, one walk and struck out eight. Nick Bruns and Tim McDonald threw the final two innings to wrap up the win for the Chargers with McDonald earning the save.
Nate Richard paced the Chargers’ offense by going 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Senior Matt Skirving was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while McDonald and Connor Hanlon also had two hits.
In game two, junior Nate Richard had a dominating performance to earn his first victory of the season. Richard threw all five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out seven.
Richard also had a big game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, triple and four RBIs. Brett Lechner was 3-for-3 and Jimmy Durfee was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
The wins lift the Chargers to 18-14 on the season. They will host Grand Blanc next Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
