The Midland High JV Gold softball team dropped both games of its doubleheader against Birch Run Friday, falling 12-7 in the first game and 9-6 in the second.

Abbie Myers led the way offensively for the Chemics, going 4-for-6 on the night with a double and triple, while Marah Litchey and Courtney Moeggenburg each went 4-for-7.

Despite being out slugged by the visiting Panthers, coach Parsons was pleased with the team’s offensive showing and overall play.

“There was a lot of improvement in our hitting and teamwork from the first game to second,” Parsons said. “If we continue on that path, we will end up playing very well.”

On the mound, pitchers Sam Stover and Mindy Miller threw well for the Chemics, providing a silver lining for Midland on the day.

“Both pitchers have excellent control, I am pleased with them,” Parsons said. “If we can clean up our few mental and physical errors, we could be a very good team.”

The JV Gold team will be in action again when they travel to Birch Run for a rematch against the Panthers Monday. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
