Loons drop final game in Clinton

The Great Lakes Loons’ bid for a series sweep of the Clinton LumberKings came up empty Sunday afternoon in Eastern Iowa as the Loons fell by a score of 5-3.

Clinton starter Mike Ballard (2-2) fired six innings and allowed two earned runs in picking up the win. Loons’ starter Josh Wall (1-3), coming off his best outing of the season his last time out, allowed four earned runs in 5 1/3 innings to record the loss.

Jose Vallejo and Chad Tracy had two hits and an RBI each to lead the LumberKings’s offensive attack. Francisco Lizarraga had three hits for the Loons while Bridger Hunt added two.

The Loons now travel to Davenport, Iowa to battle the Swing of the Quad Cities before returning to Dow Diamond for an eight-game homestand on Friday.
