Baseball: Chargers get back on track
April 20, 2007 at 2:35 pmThe Dow Chargers got back to their winning ways Thursday, beating Saginaw High 12-0 and 19-1 in a Saginaw Valley League doubleheader.
In game one, sophomore Tori Nelson (1-0) earned his first career win, throwing the first three innings of a mercy-rule shortened contest, striking out four and not allowing a hit. Junior Ben Isaacoff threw the final two innings, allowing one hit and striking out five.
Offensively, the Chargers were led by junior Zach Stidham, who was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Junior Andrew Seer was 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs.
In game two, it was senior Reed Swift who earned his first career win, tossing all three innings of another shortened contest, allowing two hits and striking out eight.
Game two’s offensive attack was led by junior Michael Bork, who was 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs. Senior Matt Skirving was 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs, and senior Nick Bruns was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
With the wins, the Chargers improve to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in the SVL.
Next up, the Chargers will host the Snowflake Invitational on Saturday beginning at noon. The Chargers will play Flint Powers in game one and Saginaw Heritage will play the #2 ranked Lake Orion Dragons on the other field.
